Michigan Plastic Surgery Statistics March 28, 2008

Filed under: Beauty, Hair, Health, Skin, Tips, teens — Rahul pandey @ 2:36 am

Maybe it’s the shape of your nose, breasts, or even calf muscles (or lack thereof) that you’d like to change. This is normal– we all have at least one feature we wish could be improved with a simple snap of the fingers. But unfortunately there’s no magic lamp to rub or shining star to wish upon. However, there’re Michigan plastic surgery services.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), “Nearly 11 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the United States in 2007.” What procedures would you guess to be most in demand? You may be surprised to learn that while the same plastic surgery procedures are on top, the popularity of some procedures has shifted to others. Focusing specifically on the leading cosmetic plastic surgery procedures among men and women in the particular state of Michigan last year, the top five will be given below (statistics gathered by the ASPS are listed from highest to lowest in number). Breast augmentation in Grand Rapids was as its higher demand and took the first place as the leading surgical operation. “For the first time, breast augmentation is the most popular surgical procedure since the ASPS began collecting statistics in 1992,” the ASPS reports. Liposuction actually dropped from number one in 2006 to number three in 2007.

Among women, liposuction in Michigan came in second to breast implant surgery, while it sat in third place among men. Michigan eyelid surgery and nose reshaping brought in higher numbers with males. Needless to say, body contouring is still attracting both males and females, despite its slight shift downward in numbers. Two procedures that also ranked among the top five cosmetic procedures among males were hair transplantation and male breast reduction (for the condition of gynecomastia).

What will we see happen to these numbers in 2008? Whether breast implant surgery remains the most frequently performed procedure, or liposuction speeds past breast enhancement, one thing is proven true: the amount of non-surgical procedures performed last year greatly surpassed the number of cosmetic and plastic surgeries performed.

Wrinkle Reduction Tips March 18, 2008

Filed under: Beauty, Cosmetic, Guide, Hair, Health, Protien, Skin, Tips, teens — Rahul pandey @ 11:09 am

There are many different options available for hair removal. Both men and women use many different solutions from shaving, to creams, to tweezers to remove unwanted hair. Some hair removal options work better than others and because everyone has different skin and hair types, what works best for one person may not work the best for you. If you are looking for a better way to remove your unwanted hair, you should educate yourself about all the different shaving and hair removal choices and determine the best one for your skin and hair type.

One of the most popular Wrinkle Reduction methods for both men and women is shaving. Shaving cuts hair at the skin’s surface and is usually one of the more convenient methods. There are a wide range of razors available for both men and women in different styles that offer varying degrees of comfort and closeness. Shaving is also usually cost effective as razors are relatively inexpensive and an electric razor can be purchased inexpensively and used for years. The drawbacks to shaving are skin irritation and the speed at which hair grows back. Shaving is the perfect choice for people who do not have sensitive skin and whose hair is fine and does not tend to grow back quickly. Because shaving only cuts hair at the skins surface, it tends to grow back more quickly than other hair removal methods that remove hair under the skin at the root.

Depilatory creams remove hair below the surface dissolving hair at the root. Depilatory creams are more common for women but men can also use them to remove unwanted body hair. Depilatory creams are applied to the skin like lotion and then rinsed away after they have had time to dissolve hair, usually in about 10 minutes. Depilatory creams usually keep hair from growing back longer than shaving but many people are sensitive to the cream and it can cause skin irritation. It is best to test some of the cream in a small area of your body first to make sure your skin will not react.

ECG Machines March 18, 2008

Filed under: Beauty, Cosmetic, Health, Improvement, Protien, Skin, Tips, teens — Rahul pandey @ 10:58 am
I was doing a ECG on a patient in the ER tonight and the ECG Machines was picking up a lot of artifacts on the tracing so I readjusted all my leads and checked my wires and disconnected the lead to the ER monitor and still the same with the artifacts but the ECG machine was saying it was detecting muscle tremors. Now here is the part the that I though was quite interesting the patient said to me “Could it be the chip a doctor had implanted in her when she had heart surgery last year?” so now I’m curious and I ask her what chip is she talking about and she continues to tell me that it was told to her after the surgery that the doctor implanted a microchip in her with information of her surgery for future knowledge.

There is no such option on the protocol sheet and so my request is ignored. I am told that the ambulance is on the way but I have to answer some more questions.

Cosmetics For Young Teens March 10, 2008

Filed under: Beauty, Cosmetic, Guide, Health, Improvement, Product, Skin, Tips, teens — Rahul pandey @ 4:34 am

The cosmetics offered to teenagers is typically low priced because teens only have a certain amount of money that they can call their own and the other money must generally come from Mom and Dad. If Mom and Dad are buying cosmetics for their child, it is probably going to be the basic brands that they used when they were the same age. While they are good cosmetics, the teens are probably not going to favor the idea very well and might even decline the offer.

Trends are what influence teens to buy cosmetics. This fact will typically drive parents crazy because they can not figure out what would possess their child to even consider placing cosmetics on their youthful skin before they would have to. But teens dance to a different drummer and will routinely buy little containers of cosmetics because of the little prices attached to them.

mascara is one of the trendiest cosmetics that were ever invented. Many fashion conscious women would never consider leaving home without at least a good layer of mascara on. Teens will spend many hours in the bathroom apply mascara to see what defining look they can establish with the fluttery eyelashes that they were born with.

Some of the looks that teens achieve with their cosmetics are very appealing, but if a parent were to pass this information on to them in passing, the entire concept of that style of applying cosmetics would typically be rejected instantly by a teen. They would feel that another look would be necessary and in very quick time too.

Parents understand more than their child know, but because they are after all, in their teens, the teens will naturally assume that the parents do not have any idea on what fashion is and what it isn’t. Perhaps this is why parents cringed and kept their mouth shut when their children decided to paint their toenails blue and green.

Teens feel like they know all that they need to know about cosmetics because they spend hours talking about all types of cosmetics with friends. The teens are very passionate about cosmetics and feel that their friends would never lead them down the wrong path when relaying to them their own experiences in applying any of their cosmetics.

There friends might not offer up the fact that they spent many hours with their Mom practicing how to apply the cosmetics but in time, the teen might break down and simply ask the Mom for some help and advice on applying cosmetics like lipsticks, eyeliners, and blush. The teen feels that they have the application of mascara under full control.

Suffer from Tendonitis? Check this out March 5, 2008

Filed under: Health, Product — Rahul pandey @ 5:39 pm

I have been suffering from tendonitis pain in my elbows and wrists for years now. Tendonitis is one of those persistant conditions that doesn’t stop you from making it through the day, it just is that constant pain that stops you from doing anything strenous.
I developed tendonitis in my elbow (see elbow tendonitis description) from years of playing squash. What started out as a small pain in my right elbow, quickly developed into a constant pain. No I can feel the pain throughout most of the day.
I could have avoided this if I treated it properly before it got out of hand. Check out this site:
i Tendontiis
This site shows you how to do the RICE method. If I would have done this when I first started feeling the pain I would not be in the trouble I am in now. I am now looking at getting steriodal injections into my elbow to try and repair the damage.
Treat tendonitis pain as soon as you feel it!
